How to Design an 800×2000mm Roller Banner (Template + Safe Zones)
Design roller banners at 800×2000mm plus 100mm extra at the bottom that hides in the cassette. Keep headlines in the top third at eye level and logos above 1600mm from the floor.
Set your artwork at 800mm wide × 2000mm visible height, plus an extra 100mm at the bottom that disappears into the cassette — so a 800×2100mm canvas with nothing important in the bottom strip. Put the headline in the top third (eye level when standing), supporting content in the middle, and treat the bottom 400mm as low-value space often blocked by furniture.
The layout that works
| Zone (from top) | Height | Content |
|---|---|---|
| 0–600mm | Top third | Logo + one big headline |
| 600–1300mm | Middle | 3–5 short points, one image |
| 1300–1600mm | Lower | Contact / QR / web address |
| 1600–2100mm | Bottom | Background only — 100mm is inside the cassette |
Resolution and file setup
150dpi at full size is ample (why) — that's roughly 4724×12402px. Design at full size or exactly half-size at 300dpi. Export PDF; from Canva create a custom 800×2100mm document and follow the print export steps.
The mistakes we fix weekly
Text at leaflet size (minimum ~30mm letter height for standing readability); critical content in the bottom strip; low-res logos stretched to fill; and QR codes below 80×80mm — test yours from two metres.
How much text is too much?
If it takes longer than five seconds to get the message, it's too much. A roller banner is scenery with a headline; the detail lives in the flyer next to it.
