What Is a Mockup in T-Shirt Printing? Why We Send One Before Printing

A mockup is a digital preview showing your artwork placed on the actual t-shirt (or hoodie, tote, etc.) at the correct size and position, before anything is printed. It lets you see exactly what the finished product will look like, catch mistakes (wrong colour, tiny print size, misspelled name), and approve the job with confidence. We send one on almost every garment order.

Why the mockup matters

Nearly every print problem is easier to fix on the mockup than after 50 shirts have been printed. A logo that's the perfect size on-screen can look tiny on a shirt, or slightly off-centre. Reviewing the mockup takes two minutes and prevents costly reprints.

What you're approving when you sign it off

Placement, size, colour, spelling, artwork quality. Approving the mockup is your green light to press "print" — any changes after that are a new job. If you're unsure, ask questions; better a delayed approval than a wrong print.

Do you always send a mockup?

For nearly all custom garment work, yes. For a repeat of a job you've already approved, we often just confirm the reorder and skip. On the tightest same-day turnarounds we sometimes proceed on written confirmation of a previous mockup.
