Is Printing on Hoodies Different to T-Shirts? What to Know
Hoodies have thicker fabric, seams, pockets and hoods that all affect print placement. The methods are the same as t-shirts (DTF, DTG, screen) but design position and size need care.
Printing on hoodies uses the same methods as t-shirts — DTF, DTG, screen printing, embroidery — but the garment shape matters much more. Hoodies have thicker fabric, a front kangaroo pocket, seams, and a hood that create no-go zones for printing and change how designs sit. Placement is where hoodies differ; the print process is the same.

Why "above the pocket" matters
The kangaroo pocket's top seam sits roughly across the middle of the front, cutting the design into two levels. Print above the pocket and your design stays flat and readable; try to print across the pocket and part of the design bulges over an edge. Design accordingly.
Print size on hoodies
Because the pocket eats the lower front, front prints on hoodies are usually smaller than a full-front t-shirt print. Back prints stay large. For big statement designs on hoodies, put them on the back and a smaller version on the front.
Fabric matters more on hoodies
Heavier hoodies (300gsm+) take screen printing and DTF beautifully. Very fluffy or brushed insides can slightly affect edge sharpness — reason to keep design detail on the outside face bold. Method choice still matters.
